"WHO"
Hi, I'm Dennis (a.k.a. the "instgtr")
I was Born and raised here in Mesa, Arizona
(about 25 miles southeast of Phoenix).
Most people say I'm an easy going kind of person.
Hobbies include computers, aviation, "oldies" music, photography, science fiction and writing.
My wife Lynda and I have been married for 4 years
(but there's a little more to the story than that...)
We met back when I was a junior in high school. We dated for a year, then when I graduated (1972) I went into the Air Force. We lost contact and a few years later I met someone else and married. The marriage lasted 5 years (about the same as my Air Force career) and after my discharge, I headed home to Mesa.
When I got back, I looked for Lynda, but couldn't find her.
A few years later I moved to Palm Springs, California where I met my next wife and stayed there for 20 years. Finally after 20 years (of what was never a good marriage) we divorced and I headed back to Mesa.
I decided to see if any of my old buddies were still around, so I went onto www.classmates.com and left a message.
I still haven't heard from any of those old buddies - but
the reply I DID get was a WHOLE lot better!!!
(bet ya can't guess who...)
Finally, after 32 years, Lynda and I were back together and have been very happily married for the past 4 years.
(sometimes those dark clouds DO have silver linings...)
Lynda is photo manager for one of the local drug stores
and we're both enjoying life to the fullest!
Okay, so what is "Flying Ape" all about?
Now that I've told you a little about Lynda, I can tell you how the "Flying Ape" name came about - as I mentioned earlier, Lynda and I were an item back in our high school days and her nickname for me was her "Big Hairy Ape"
Well, that (combined with my love of aviation) eventually led to "Flying Ape"
That does make sense (in a weird sort of way) doesn't it???
SO - the final question is:
"WHY?"
The answer to that is really pretty simple - I do a lot of web surfing (looking for good sites) and in my "travels" have often thought
"That's something I'd enjoy doing!!!"
So...
I put Flying Ape together and hope you enjoy checking out the site as much as I enjoy putting it together!
